When I (re)started Contemporary Indian Woman about almost two years ago, I had no idea that women would respond to it the way they have. Despite the often long silences on the blog, women have reached out with encouragement and support to continue, if not intensify, the efforts on it.
A number of you have come up with ideas for stories, come up with your own ideas for posts or have been gracious enough to let me run your writings here at CIW. I am full of gratitude for it, and there is no better day than International Women’s Day to profusely Thank You from my heart, for allowing it to be a much richer blog than I had envisaged it to be.
You have read stories about finances, issues with work, marriage, the social environment and more in appreciable numbers, liked movie reviews and shared your own ideas with great frankness and perception. But most of all, you have connected with stories about other women, and men who have taken the path less travelled.
I would love to cover more stories about wonderful women like you, that deserve to be told. So if you would like to share your story or direct me to stories of women you admire, please leave a comment or write in to continwo@gmail.com . But please feel free to send any other ideas and suggestions you might have as well. It would be especially good to hear more about the gender specific challenges you face, after all, the more things come out in the open the more they are likely to get resolved.
In most parts of the world, the International Women’s Day is already over, but I would like to wish all the lovely women out there a very Happy Women’s Day once again!
